Mentoring Program

The mentoring program allows new women municipal councillors to learn directly from experienced women councillors. This one-to-one relationship involves occasional face-to-face meetings, telephone conversations and emails. The program aims to advance the personal and professional development of both partners. It supports the need to pass valuable knowledge and experience from veteran women councillors to recently elected women.

Goals of the program are to:

  • develop and foster the knowledge and skills of women municipal leaders in Nova Scotia
  • improve and enhance inter-municipal cooperation and communication
  • expand personal networks
  • provide the advantage of experience to women who are new to municipal government.

The program was officially launched in November 2008. To access the Mentoring Program Guide (PDF 209 kB)  or go to Publications.
